Wikipedia, April 26, 2017 (Charles III of Spain; Charles III (Spanish: Carlos; Italian: Carlo; 20 January 1716, Royal Alcazar of Madrid, Spain--14 December 1788, Royal Palace of Madrid, Spain) was the King of Spain and the Spanish Indies from 1759 to 1788; while he was the fifth son of Philip V of Spain, he was the eldest son of Philip's second wife, Elisabeth Farnese; he was Duke of Parma and Piacenza from 29 December 1731-3 October 1735 and King of Naples and Sicily from 15 May 1734-6 October 1759; Charles succeeded to the Spanish throne on 10 August 1759, after the death of his half-brother King Ferdinand VI of Spain who left no heirs; he married Princess Maria Amalia of Saxony, daughter of the Polish king Augustus III, and had 13 children; he was succeeded by his son Charles IV of Spain)

Charles III of Spain (1716-1788) was King of Spain and the Spanish Indies from 1759-1788. He succeeded his half brother Ferdinand VI and was succeeded by his son Charles IV of Spain.
