Spanish Wikipedia, Sept. 4, 2014 (Antonio Prieto, writer; Antonio Prieto Martín, born Aguilas, Murcia, Spain, Sept. 23, 1929; known for his novels and essays. His father, Luis Prieto, died in a car accident just before the Spanish Civil War, which obliged his mother to move to Almeria (where some authors erroniously place his birth). As a college student, he moved to Madrid where he began studying medicine, and graduated with a degree in Philosophy and Letters from the Universidad de Madrid. For his first novel "Tres pisadas de hombre" (1955) he received the Premio Planeta de Novela prize. He became the Spanish Literature chair at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, which he held until his retirement and specialized in poetry and prose of the sixteenth century. He now writes and speaks at conferences)
